INITIATIVES

We are actively involved in pioneering sustainability initiatives that bring stakeholders together from across the consumer goods industry.

We are experienced facilitators in leading complex discussions, for example as the current Chair of the Apparel and Footwear Technical Secretariat for the Product Environmental Footprint (PEF), a standardised method for measuring the environmental performance of products in the EU. Prior to founding 2B Policy, the management team also spent 5 years developing the Policy Hub, which now represents over half of the apparel and footwear industry on circularity policies.

The Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) initiative aims to establish one common method for measuring the environmental performance of products across different categories. It is supervised by the European Commission in cooperation with companies and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) experts. The PEF aims to improve the scalability, validity, and comparability of the environmental performance evaluation compared to existing methods and to make it time—and cost-effective for SMEs.

The PEF allows for determining all relevant environmental impacts and resource-related burdens caused by a product. The entire life cycle of the product is considered for the calculation.

Since its inception in 2020, 2B Policy founder Baptiste Carriere-Pradal has been the Chair of The Apparel and Footwear Technical Secretariat (TS). Baptiste independently facilitates all conversations in this group.

The Policy Hub - Circularity for Apparel & Footwear aims to convene the apparel and footwear industry to speak in one voice and propose policies that accelerate circular practices. 2BPolicy staffs the Policy Hub’s Secretariat and supports facilitating and managing the initiative’s work. Prior to founding 2BPolicy, the management team spent 5 years growing the Policy Hub from a few key players in the sector to a recognized body that now represents more than half of the apparel and footwear industry on circularity policies.

The initiative was launched in 2019 after the expansion of the EU’s Circular Economy Action Plan 1.0 and evolved out of partnerships between the Cascale (formerly the Sustainable Apparel Coalition), the Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry (FESI), and the Global Fashion Agenda (GFA). From 2021-2024, Textile Exchange, Fashion For Good, the Social & Labor Convergence Program (SLCP) and the Organic Cotton Accelerator (OCA) joined. These six organisations and their members currently fund the Policy Hub’s work, following initial financial support from the Laudes Foundation (formerly C&A Foundation).
