Job Opening: Sustainability & Policy Manager

Location: Amsterdam or remote (EU time zone)

Start date: 1 July 2025

Duration: 1-year contract with possible extension 

FTE: Full-time

Policies are a key driver to accelerate change, especially regarding circularity and sustainability. As Sustainability & Policy Manager at 2B Policy, you will work on transformative projects across sectors (e.g., textiles, tourism, luxury, and other consumer goods). You will support companies, organisations, and sectorial initiatives to navigate and understand the upcoming sustainability legislation from the EU to Member States' efforts. To achieve this, you will liaise with various stakeholders: businesses, European Institutions, multi-stakeholder initiatives, and civil society.

About the Role 

This role has two components, first to deliver policy support to 2B Policy clients, then to support diverse industry coalitions (from apparel to hard goods) collaborating for the development or implementation of industry methodologies to calculate the environmental footprint of products. 

  • Supporting client accounts and working directly with clients on sustainability (environmental and social) related legislation;

  • Translating EU legislative developments into concrete next steps for businesses and organisations;

  • Developing communication materials (e.g., briefs, memos, newsletters) for 2B Policy clients;

  • Supporting the day-to-day activities of industry groups, coordinating meetings with project participants, technical partners and external and internal stakeholders, taking minutes and keeping track of actions;

  • Supporting the facilitation of complex technical conversations between members of industry group;

  • Supporting external communication of group progress through updates on social media accounts & website;

  • Supporting business development activities: e.g., external communications through updates of social media accounts & website, organization of events and workshops;

  • Engaging with external stakeholders: EU institutions, multi-stakeholder coalitions, businesses, service providers, and civil society.

Qualifications 

  • Minimum of 3 years of proven work experience.

  • Strong interest in environmental footprinting, knowledge of LCA or PEF a plus if you have a political science background.

  • Strong interest in environmental legislation and European law if you have an environmental science background.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to interact and engage with various stakeholders in an international context. Experience in group facilitation is a plus. 

  • Excellent project management and organisational skills, and ability to navigate a fast-paced work environment.

  • Proven track record of engaging in the EU decision-making processes, working with EU institutions, or working on corporate sustainability is a plus.

  • Excellent analytical capabilities. Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of other EU languages is a plus.  

  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills to effectively communicate to all audiences.

Education & Skills 

  • University degree in Political Sciences/ European Studies /Law OR Sustainability/ Environmental Sciences.

  • Background working on sustainability and/or policy within business, consultancy, or multi-stakeholder initiatives.

  • Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint & Excel) skills required.

  • Experience working in an international and multi-cultural context is a plus
